What do I need to bring?
A riding helmet that meets ASTM standards and
is SEI
certified, heeled shoes, and breeches.
What do you require of me
for lessons?
All lessons require the horse be
groomed, hooves picked and tacked up prior to lessons. Please allow
time to have this done as it may interfere with the next person waiting for
their lesson. At the completion of the lesson, unless the instructed
otherwise, all horses are to be cooled down, brushed down, hooves picked, tack put away and the horse turn out
or put in stall (as instructed). All students new to riding will be
instructed on these procedures during the first couple of lessons.
What if I don't own a horse?
ECETC has great horses and ponies available for
riding lessons. You will be matched up to one that will suit your level
of riding.
How old do you have to be to take
lessons?
ECETC takes students as young as 6
and up. Including those who wish they were 6 again!
What are the hours for training?
ECETC has a wonderful, well lighted,
indoor riding arena, and weather and seasons are not a concern, hours for
training and lessons are flexible.
Is there transportation to the shows?
Transportation to shows can be
arranged depending on available space. There is a charge based on
mileage.
Will you show client's horses?
Yes, client's horses can be shown by
ECETC staff. This is typically prearranged through the trainer for a
nominal fee.
How much are lessons just for my horse?
Training for horses is $250 per
month plus board.
Are there any references?
One of the veterinarians that tends
to the horses at ECETC brings his horses to ECETC for training.
References are available on request. Click

I am going to be in the area
for vacation. Do you provide horses for trail riding?
Depending on your riding skill level,
ECETC does lease horses on a short term basis. ECETC sits on almost 100 acres
of land. ECETC does not
provide for organized trail rides at this time.
I would like to bring my
horse with me while vacationing in Virginia Beach. May I park my
trailer at your facility? Do you provide short term boarding and a
place to ride?
Yes, we do provide stall space on a
short term basis for the vacationer. You must provide an up to date
Coggins, worming and health record for each horse. Stall space can be
limited and dates may conflict with events, so it is suggested reservations
be made well in advance. Trailers may be parked at the facility as
provided for in the short term boarding contract.
I would like to sign up for
a show. I am not sure what is required for each class? Like how
high are the jumps and what does it all mean?
ECETC's trainers will help you grow
into each level of your training and will assist you when you sign up for
your divisional classes. Learning the different classes is all part of
your training at ECETC. We are creating a new page that will help you
decipher what each class requirements are.
